I’m constantly listening to weightless stories and learning about different diets, food plans, and fads. They interest me… especially the ones that seem to work so well, i.e. quickly. I really like all the things I’m reading about Keto. I love hearing from diabetic friends who started Keto and haven’t had to use their insulin (Both type 1 and type 2 friends). People talk about the mental clarity and that really fascinates me! I can always use more clarity in my mind!
My point is… there are limitless options for you to pursue. You can do a 30 day thing, a 6 month thing, a year long thing, or a do-this-till-you-loose-what-you-want thing.
I didn’t really choose either of those options. I didn’t want a diet, I wanted a lifestyle change. I needed to learn about food and how my body works with different foods. I’ve learned that my body hates some foods and how some foods make my body suck! For me, I do a low carb lifestyle. Carbs have always been something that get me into trouble. You know, like I just want a few chips and then the bag is empty kind of trouble.
I love carbs! Can I get an Amen for Pizza?!
However, my body doesn’t perform well with a bunch of carbs. There are some carbs that my body REALLY likes. Things like rice and fibers carbs found in veggies. I also throw in some whole grain bread. The processed stuff is OUT! It messes everything up! The point I’m wanting you to hear is that I wanted a lifestyle change and within that change I have learned so much about food and my body.
Now, to be clear, I am not and have no plan on being a dietician or food coach of any form. I just want to be fit and maybe help others find their way. You want someone to help you with food… contact Jamie Free. (He’s the bomb!)
My next point is… I want to help you.
A few weeks back I wrote about my challenge in considering surgery. I received a lot of great feedback from people and have since enjoyed conversations with those of you who wanted to talk. Here’s the deal… If you WANT to have surgery, then go do it. Make that choice and own it. You be you. However, if you don’t want to have bariatric surgery and your scared that it’s the only way… then I have another way for you. I have the answer you’ve been looking for and I’m willing to help you.
I want to connect you to people around you that can help. People who can walk with you along this journey. Why? Because we CAN’T do it alone!!! It takes community and accountability.
There are small steps you can make right now that will make HUGE difference in your life and food. You can start moving. You don’t have to be an elite athlete to start. All you need is a willingness to move and to start saying No to some food choices. It’s small steps. I believe that CrossFit is the answer to movement. I believe it’s the best option because of it’s methodology and practice. CrossFit is NOT about the CrossFit Games, it’s about functional fitness. Functional! Not beach body, not sweating to the oldies, and not core focused work that has NO translation into real life movements. CrossFit helps your body become what it was truly made to be. That’s why I believe in it and that’s why I’m committing my life to it’s practice. I even hope to coach CrossFit in the near future.
The reality is that CrossFit will do nothing if you eat shit. So…
For those of you who have lost hope in yourself… reach out to me.
For those of you who don’t think you can do anything… reach out to me.
For those of you who have nowhere to turn and no way out… reach out to me.
I want to show you a way out of the place in which you feel trapped. I’ve been there and I know what it feels like… It took me years to break out because I was all alone.
You don’t have to be alone. I’m willing to give my life to you and walk with you. All I ask is that you KEEP GOING! Don’t waste my time if you aren’t willing to give back what your receiving. What if we had a network of people walking with people for life change?
To go ahead and answer the question… I’m not looking to monetize my FitBy40 stuff… I just want to help people. I have a full time job that I love and am not looking for another full time job. haha!
Let me know if I can help.
Keep Going!
Ooh yes … It is a really tough challenge especially when you are a food lover

It is especially hard for women in the 60+ range. So often women accept the changes life hands them and do nothing to fight the aging process. I am here to tell you that you CAN fight and you CAN conquer the aging process. I may get older chronologically but I am determined to stay young physically. Thank you for speaking out for all of us who struggle with living a healthy lifestyle. It isn’t easy but oh it is so worth the it!!!
